Belle Pelle Earrings

Belle Pelle is a small-batch wearable art brand created by South Australian maker and primary school teacher, Belle Cannizzaro.

What began as a personal creative and wellbeing journey has grown into a passion for transforming genuine leather into bold, colourful and individual pieces of wearable art.

I began making earrings because I wanted something creative that was simply for me — something separate from the busyness of teaching and everyday life. I started experimenting with leather, paint and colour, creating pieces for myself to wear. When people began asking where I had found my earrings and whether they could buy them, Belle Pelle was born.

Each piece begins with genuine leather, which I hand paint before cutting, layering and assembling it into an original design. I let the painted leather guide the creative process, so rather than producing identical pieces, each earring evolves in its own way. I often return to the surface with additional painted details, creating layers of colour, pattern and texture.

This process means that no two pairs are exactly alike.

I create Belle Pelle from my home studio in South Australia, working in small batches and giving each piece the time and attention it needs. From the initial painting through to the final assembly, every pair passes through my hands.

Customers are drawn to Belle Pelle because the pieces are different. They are bold without being mass-produced, colourful without following a formula, and made for people who want to wear something with personality.

For me, Belle Pelle is about more than making earrings. It is about creativity, individuality and the joy of making something by hand.

Art doesn't have to hang on a wall. Sometimes, you can wear it.
