Tell us about your creations and your handmade process.
Tell us a bit about your journey to becoming a handmade artist.
After many years of not doing any craft, I picked up a crotchet hook and started crotcheting teddy bears. Hence my store name BearyCutest.
I fell in love with crocheting all over again.
What is your inspiration or where do you find inspiration?
I love Pinterest. This is my main go to for visual inspiration. So many ideas for baby items to crochet, along with patterns, and great tutorial videos. You just keep scrolling and it’s endless.
Where did you learn your craft?
My grandmother taught me how to knit and crochet when I was about 10 years old. I wasn’t too keen on knitting. I remember making a jumper with short arms and lots of dropped stitches.
I took to crotcheting like a duck to water. I made mountains of granny squares that turned into many, many blankets and bags. Why is handmade artistry so important to you?
When an artist like myself has created something unique and beautiful, it shows that they have taken the time to consider the design, then made it with their own hands thoughtfully and carefully.
The end result is a handmade product that is a one of and exclusive to the person that has made it. So when a customer buys one of my creations, they become part of my journey, my story and I instantly have a personal connection with them.
Sue is a much loved member of the Madeit Collective, posting regularly in our Facebook Group ~ The Home of Australian Handmade ~ and sharing her new creations as they are released. If you haven't connected with BearyCutest already, make sure you join our FB Group and say hi!
