This gorgeous Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo has been caught in the act of cracking open a Coastal Banksia cone to nibble on its tasty seeds.

I often hear the distinctive cry of these Black Cockatoos as they fly overhead on my bushwalk in Norah Head, New South Wales in Australia.

The original Black Cockatoo and Coastal Banksia painting was rendered in watercolours and is a fitting tribute to one of our distinctive Australian birds.
