This is Waldo. He's a little wombat joey who was rescued from the side of the road in Wollemi, NSW, after his Mum was hit by a car. Mum was badly injured and she passed away. But luckily Waldo was found curled up in her pouch safe and sound. He was just 8 months old at the time. Waldo spent time getting big and strong at Port Stephens Koala Hospital so one day he can be a real wombat in the wild again, and during that time he was adored by all of our wildlife carers. Waldo is now in the care of Cedar Creek Wombat Rescue in the next stage of his transition back to the wild.
