Description
Each of these quirky images have been created from my photographs from my travels. I have decluttered them and stylised in Photoshop, then placed them in new environments, allowing us to see them in a different light. My subjects are usually architectural or quirky objects.
This series was inspired by the architecture itself. All parts of these buildings are from Maryborough and one from Charters Towers, QLD. These buildings do not exist in reality, they are made from a combination of buildings to show the eclectic mix of Australian architecture. This is possibly Queensland’s equivalent of Victoria’s Ballarat in terms of a CBD precinct rich in historical buildings. I teemed these images up with birds, as they are plentiful in this coastal city, creating their own nests within the buildings.
Foregrounds from Yorkeys Knob beach dunes, QLD, and dramatic skies from Furano, Japan. The seabirds and palms are from Cairns.
Empty Nest
Perched atop this grassy knoll sits this classic colonial/art deco combination.
Now empty, it offers a peaceful sanctuary for the birds to nest. Occasionally it offers temporary lodgings for squatters, but due to an unnerving scraping sound from upstairs, visits tend to be kept short.

Flown the Coop
A colonial/ semi art deco pink and rust coloured building with mint green trim still stands proudly.
Once a place of dodgy dealings, this building is enjoying its retirement on a breezy coastal hill. On weekends it hosts a mix of gambling nights, host a murder dinner parties, and other raucous entertainment. Come Monday, the parties are over and it once again settles down for a long sleepy week, re-joined by the nesting jabirus.

Two Birds One Home
Nestled amongst the palm trees, this colonial/victorian combination is up for lease. Steeping inside you are greeted with bookshelf lined walls, the musty aroma of old books and old furnishings under white sheets. A dusty piano sits neglected in the foyer, its sheet music scattered across the floor. It’s now home to the birds and anyone willing to make it their home.
