There’s something special about holding a piece of silver that has already lived a life.
This ring began as a 1939 Royal Danish demitasse spoon, crafted by International Sterling and designed with a quiet, architectural elegance that has stood the test of time. Nearly a century later, it has been gently reshaped by hand into a ring—ready to be worn again, in a new and meaningful way.
The Royal Danish pattern carries a sense of strength and grace. Its fluted column and balanced lines draw on classical design, while a small eyelet detail adds a subtle moment of light and shadow. It’s refined, but never delicate in a fragile way—this is a design made to endure.
Rather than cutting the spoon down, I’ve chosen to honour its original form. The entire demitasse spoon has been shaped so the handle wraps naturally around the bowl, creating a soft, flowing curve that sits comfortably on the finger. You can still feel the integrity of the original piece in the way it moves and rests.
Inside the band, the original markings remain — U.S.A., Royal Danish, International Sterling. Quiet reminders of where it began.
Each ring is made slowly in my Adelaide Hills studio, shaped, refined and polished by hand. No two spoons are ever exactly alike, and that individuality carries through into every finished piece.
This is more than a ring—it’s a small piece of history, thoughtfully transformed. Something to wear every day, and perhaps one day, pass on.
