Description
This wall hanging started organically and evolved as the shapes came together. The colours were chosen to complement each other and give off that mid-century vibe. The timber hanger is a piece of hardwood that was reclaimed from a cabinet maker. I think it could be oak. I've sanded it back and applied a coat of beeswax to bring out the lovely wood grain. This one-of-a-kind hanging does the dual purpose of displaying your pins and brooches if you desire. It's art with a twist! Size approx. 38cm across by 56cm high.
I'm a fabric addict. I collect fabric and it sits in my studio waiting for the day it will be picked to become something new. I collect fabric based on colour and texture. I also source my fabrics in the hope that it will keep things out of the waste stream. So I have quite a lot of decorator samples in all the colours of the rainbow, in various weights and textures. Once the fabric information is removed from the back of the samples, there sometimes isn't much fabric left to use. So I've been working on a way to use these small bits, whilst also teaching myself how to do some improv quilting.
