Description
This unique intricate basket is handwoven using hundreds of cured longleaf pine needles, on a ceramic bottle/vase wheel thrown by me, using one of the whitest, highest quality porcelain clays available in Australia, Southern Ice Porcelain. This basket is stitched together using only white sinew, and to finish it off, woven around the rim, the addition of cured jacaranda needles from our jacaranda tree.
Although delicate, this basket has been sealed with lacquer for durability, and will make a beautiful centre piece on your kitchen or lounge room table.
DIMENSIONS
No. 1: approximately 16cm tall x 19cm diameter (6.3” tall x 7.5” diameter).
No. 2: approximately 15cm tall x 27cm diameter (5.9” tall x 10.6” diameter).
TIMEFRAME
6-8 weeks in the making and estimating a minimum of 60-80 hours of work to complete, just to give you an idea of how much time was involved in weaving this basket.
