The wood-framed oversized clutch purse or handbag combines practicality, versatility and timeless style. Based on an original design and crafted with care in my home studio, it’s the perfect size for a night out, a day at the races, a formal event or lunch with the girls. I can picture this one at a beach wedding. Clever shaping and the use of box corners on the base ensures you can fit in all your essentials – phone, makeup, wallet and lots more.
The details
The bag measures approximately 22cm high including the clasp and is around 29cm wide at the base. The base is 5cm deep and the frame is 20cm wide. There is a slip pocket inside for easy access to keys or cards.
A beautiful natural wood frame with large blue beads has been used for this bag, and a coordinating 60cm detachable acrylic handle is included. Magnets in the frame ensure a secure closure.
The exterior is made from a reclaimed fabric sample in a gorgeous mix of blues and teals. Layers of interfacing and wadding are added during construction to ensure structure and stability, and each purse is fully lined with a coordinating cotton fabric.
The frame is glued and screwed to the fabric, ensuring that the purse remains a cherished accessory for years to come.
