Using timber salvaged from a fallen tree in Charnwood ACT, this bowl involved a multi step process to get the charcoal and water effect.
From pre-cutting the 2 round components, to burning the inside edges, and then making a custom form to pour the epoxy, this piece involved many different techniques before I could even put it on my lathe.
The main water like epoxy component was poured in double walled mold to minimise waste.
It has been finished with 4 coats of high gloss polyurethane so will require minimal maintenance.
