Handmade Goat Hide Rattle – One of a Kind

This small, round rattle is completely handmade from start to finish using traditional methods and natural materials. Each piece is unique, with no two ever the same.

The process begins by soaking genuine goat hide, then cutting it into a small round shape. The hide is hole-punched and carefully hand-stitched all the way around. It is first filled with rice and left to dry for approximately 24 hours to help the hide set. Once dried, the rice is removed and replaced with crystal chips.

The handle is made from blue gum wood, hand-sanded smooth while left natural so you may varnish or finish it if desired. Crystals and bead dangles are added for both beauty and sound. Some pink fluff for looks.

This particular rattle features real cockatoo feathers attached to the beaded dangles, making it especially distinctive. Approx 60cm long.
