The foundations of Flowers in a Peony Vase No 1 are my very first attempt at a self portrait. The painting survived in that form for five years until I decided to morph it into this glorious array of blooms in a vase I now covet from Pinterest. The irony of turning myself into the universal symbol of nature and beauty is not lost on me. It represents by its very evolution a hope for living your best life, for welcome change, for beauty and an acknowledgment of the transience of life.
Flowers in a Peony Vase No 1 is ready to be framed and hung. The framing here is purely indicative.
