Description
A one-of-a-kind custom portrait of your beloved pet is the perfect way to immortalise a special furry (or feathered!) family member, or to create a lasting memorial of a pet who has passed. My pet portraits are completed by hand in coloured pencil, on acid free, artist quality paper.
I will work from photos provided by you - it is essential that you supply clear, close-up photos with lots of detail – 2-4 images is ideal, with one as the main reference photo, the others to demonstrate fur colour, eye details etc. I can supply a document via email if you need some tips on taking or choosing photos – please ask!
What happens next?
- Choose your artwork size and number of pets from the options listed. I can work from multiple photos if you would like more than one pet in your drawing.
- Please note: the artwork sizes given are the size at which the picture can be framed, ie. the ‘hole’ inside the frame/mount. Your actual picture will be slightly smaller than this measurement to allow for framing. I strongly recommend using a mat board inside your frame to prevent the artwork coming into contact with the glass.
- After you have made your selection and placed your order, please send an email to karenbuchanartist@gmail.com with your order number, pet’s name and breed, and your chosen photographs - and I’d love a little bit of information about your pet too – I always like to know who I’m drawing!
- I will confirm with you via email with a photo of the initial sketch to ensure you are happy with my planned drawing. Once this is approved by you, your drawing is confirmed and I will begin the colouring stage. I cannot make changes after this point.
- The completion time for your portrait depends on the size, complexity and whether I already have commissions in progress, but I will advise you of my expected timeframe in my initial email.
- If you require a drawing by a specific date (eg. for a gift) please email me before you order to check that I can accommodate you.
-
Please note that backgrounds are not included – I like to allow your pet to be the focus of the drawing! I generally use off-white paper for all of my drawings, even though the backgrounds of some of the photographs may appear greyish or creamy coloured.
Portraits are supplied unframed and presented inside a clear cellophane sleeve with a backing board. All products used are artist quality and acid free and suitable for long term storage before framing if required. I will also provide an artwork care sheet for your reference.
Postage rates include packaging, tracking and insurance. Your artwork will be securely wrapped and delivered via Australia Post in specially designed sturdy cardboard artwork mailers.
Reference photos for the images shown are all supplied by previous clients, images used with permission.
