Once the Crackle Glaze Raku vessel reaches the ideal temperature in the kiln, it is taken out to cool, allowing the glaze to crack. Afterward, the vessel is positioned under a bucket of burning papers, producing smoke that seeps into the cracks, creating the distinctive dark lines on the piece.
