A little piece of French textile history, given a new life for Christmas. ❤️🤎
These three rustic Christmas stockings are lovingly handmade from treasured, unused French hemp tea towels, keeping their beautiful natural weave, classic red stripes, and original top hems.
I fell in love with the character of this lovely old fabric and took a little while to bring myself to cut into it! The result is a simple, timeless stocking with all the natural charm of an old European farmhouse Christmas.
A little about the details
- Classic woven red-striped French hemp on the front.
- Plain natural French hemp on the back.
- The original tea-towel hem has been used at the top.
- Unlined, with the substantial natural fabric left to speak for itself.
- Finished with a natural hanging loop with red stitching and a Poppy Cotton label on the reverse side, stitched onto a small piece of hemp with softly frayed edges.
Each stocking celebrates the character of the original textile, with its natural texture and individual imperfections.
Each stocking is unlined, allowing the substantial hemp fabric and its lovely texture to speak for themselves. The backs are plain hemp, making the most of this special fabric.
Hang from a rustic peg rail, display by the fireplace or incorporate into a natural Christmas arrangement; these stockings are for those who appreciate simple French Country style, traditional textiles, and handmade treasures.
Only three have been made from this special fabric, making each one a little piece of Christmas nostalgia.
A timeless Christmas decoration to enjoy for many seasons to come.
Handmade in Tasmania by Poppy Cotton.
