Built from natural round eucalyptus hardwood. 15cm lengths are cut, bark removed and sanded. A design is hand drawn using a wood burning engraver. 100 mm holes are carefully drilled with extra long drill bits, using 4, 6 and 9mm drill bits. The hole widths and lengths are the perfect dimensions for a large range of Australian native bee species. The bee hotel is oiled with 100% organic oil, to help protect the timber. A hardwood roof and bamboo is also added. A chain is supplied for easy installation on a tree branch or similar. If needed, the chain can simply be removed and the bee hotel placed on a flat surface, with small timber pieces on the side to keep it secure.
