Tell us about your creations and your handmade process.
Hi, I'm Clarrie, the maker behind Little Blooms. I create handcrafted felt flower accessories for little girls (and the young at heart!) that are suitable from birth. Every piece starts with a spark of inspiration. Each petal and leaf is thoughtfully designed, precision-cut from premium felt, and then carefully shaped, glued, and stitched together by hand. It takes patience, attention to detail, and perhaps just a little too much tea, but seeing each bloom come to life makes it all worthwhile!
What began with flower crowns and hair accessories has since blossomed into a growing collection that now includes mini bouquets, greeting cards, floral pouches, earrings, brooches, and thoughtful handmade gifts. There's truly a little something for everyone, whether you're celebrating a new arrival, a birthday, or simply wanting to brighten someone's day. Since every flower is handmade, no two are ever exactly the same, each one has its own personality.
Tell us a bit about your journey to becoming a handmade artist.
I have always loved creating and making art pieces. I'm a mum with a passion for handmade creations, and my journey began during the COVID lockdowns when I made a floral name garland to decorate my daughter's room. From there, I started creating handmade accessories for her, and what began as a creative escape soon blossomed into Little Blooms.
Creating by hand became a way to find joy and calm during uncertain times, and each piece I make is created with love, patience, and purpose.
I joined Madeit about two years ago and have learned so much along the way.
What is your inspiration or where do you find inspiration?
Inspiration finds me in the most unexpected places. It might be a pretty flower on my morning walk, a page from a children's book, a colourful café display, or even the ribbon wrapped around a gift. I love wandering through craft stores, visiting markets, admiring beautiful gardens, and browsing vintage treasures for colour combinations and floral ideas. Sometimes my kids suggest the wildest flower combinations, and surprisingly, they work!
Where did you learn your craft?
I am entirely self-taught. Growing up in Singapore, a fast-paced and highly competitive environment, I found that creating by hand gave me a chance to slow down and unwind. I spent countless hours borrowing books from the library, watching tutorials, and searching online for new techniques and inspiration. Over time, my curiosity and passion became my greatest teachers.
Why is handmade artistry so important to you?
Handmade artistry is important to me because it celebrates individuality and creativity. Every handmade piece has its own character and tells a story, making it something truly unique rather than mass-produced.
I believe there is something special about creating with intention, care and patience, knowing that no two pieces will ever be exactly the same. In a fast-paced world, handmade craftsmanship encourages us to slow down, appreciate the process, and connect with the people behind what we create. Making by hand is not only rewarding, it is good for the soul.
