Soy wax flakes are melted and combined with fragrance oil at optimum temperatures to create a strong, long lasting aroma. The silver screw top lids are labelled then the candles are placed into a reusable calico bag with hand stamped logo. The candle is then lovingly packed for shipping. If it is too short it will drown in the wax.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eLight BOTH wicks (if there are two).\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eBurn your candle long enough\u003c\/strong\u003e. You always need to burn your candle long enough for all the wax to melt across the top of the jar. This could take 1-2hrs. If you don't burn your candle until the wax melts across the top you will cause tunneling and you will be left with wax around the edges of the jar.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCalmare candles are designed to be burned for\u003cstrong\u003e a maximum of 3hrs at a time.\u003c\/strong\u003e If you burn for longer you risk the wicks drowning and the jar becoming too hot.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eTo extinguish your candle \u003cstrong\u003egently blow the flame out, put the lid on or use a cloche\u003c\/strong\u003e. We use all cotton wicks in our candles so they will ball on the top. This needs to be gently trimmed.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWait until your candle has re-solidified and trim the ball off the wick, keeping the wick to 5-10mm in length.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eIf you find you have soot on the inside of your jar this could indicate your wick was too long, your candle was in a drafty area or you burnt your candle longer than the recommended time. When the jar is cool wipe soot off with a damp paper towel.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eStop burning the candle when there is 10mm of wax left in the jar.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCalmare candles are recommended to be burnt \u003cstrong\u003ewithin 3 months\u003c\/strong\u003e of purchase, or at least start burning a month after purchase, for optimum results. No additives or preservative are added to our soy wax so the wax can expand in the jar due to temperature fluctuations. If the candle is not burnt occasionally, the wicks will become too small to maintain a flame, or even disappear altogether in the wax. Don't save your candle for special occasions, burn and enjoy it!\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\u003ch3\u003eCANDLE SAFETY\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePlace your candle in an area free from drafts, open windows\/doors, fans and direct sunlight.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eDo not leave your candle in a hot car or in direct sunlight. Soy wax has a low melt point and doing this may cause your candle to melt.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eNever leave a burning candle unattended or out of sight.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eDo not throw water or blow harshly to extinguish the flame.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eStop burning when there is 10mm of unmelted wax in the bottom of the jar. Burning to the bottom may cause the glass to crack.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eNever move a burning candle. Ensure candle is extinguished, wax is solid and jar is cold before handling.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eGlass may become hot. Burn candle on an appropriate flat, heat-resistant surface and do not touch glass until cool.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eKeep away from children, pets and flammable materials.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWhen not burning keep the lid on the candle to prevent dust settling.
