Wicked Little Friends

Since leaving the corporate world eight years ago, I have pursued my dream of creating my own little business from the bottom up. After a few false starts (candle making etc.) I played to my strengths and began designing and creating dolls, something I had done many years ago as a child when my grandmother taught me to sew. I began by making voodoo dolls, selling these on-line, and at local markets. In the past twelve months I have self-educated myself more on the subject of voodoo and have widened my range of products accordingly, now creating protection dolls, love dolls, binding dolls, punk dolls and gothic crow cats. All my dolls are hand made from recycled fabrics, this is very important to my business ethos. All my dolls are individual and bespoke. No two are the same. I would like to say I do all my work from a sunlit studio, however the magic happens in my own home, at my sewing machine or sitting with scissors, needle and thread on my lounge suite. I realize my little business is somewhat niche, definitely not mainstream. However, my greatest joy is when people discover my products and connect with them. I find the pleasure they get from discovering my little folk is almost akin to the pleasure I get in making my little people in the first place.
