I pay my respects to the traditional and original\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eowners of this land.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMy mugs start their journey on the potters wheel where I throw the body shape of\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ethe mugs. Handles are crafted by hand and attached to the mugs once they have\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003edried to the leather hard stage. At this time all other sculpted elements and\/or\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ecarvings are added and the mugs are left for up to 5 days until they are bone\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003edry. Pieces are cleaned then loaded into the kiln for the bisque firing, which\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003edrives moisture out of the clay and makes them porous and easier to handle.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eGlazes are hand painted with up to eight layers over the surface of the mugs.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThey are then fired in the kiln again to melt the glaze and fuse it to the\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003epieces. Each kiln firing takes over 24 hours to fire and cool. The gold\/platinum luster is then added to the piece and it is fired a final time.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ePatience pays off with beautiful, unique, magical ceramic wares.
