FibreLicious

Welcome to FibreLicous, it is lovely to meet you!

Weaving is my happy place — where head, heart and hands come together to create unique pieces of handwoven cloth.

Weaving became part of my life in 2009.

Initially, I was drawn to the idea of filling my home with practical, handwoven pieces: things I could hold, touch, use and enjoy every day. What I didn't realise was that weaving would become so much more.

No one warned me that it could take hold of your soul, occupy your thoughts throughout the day and weave its way into your dreams at night!

There is something truly inspiring about transforming simple strands of yarn into something beautiful and useful. A hard-wearing floor rug, an elegant table runner, a well-loved tea towel, a softly draping shawl that offers a warm hug on a cold winter's day, or a delicate, gossamer-like transparency — each begins with a collection of threads and the possibilities they hold.

Weaving brings me joy. It grounds me, centres me and gives me space to create.

From winding bobbins to throwing the shuttle, I am involved in every stage of the process, working with the yarn that becomes each finished piece. Every decision, every thread and every woven inch is part of that journey. In some small way, a piece of me remains in every cloth I create.

Simply put, I weave because I must. It is part of who I am, and there is enormous joy in knowing that something I have woven can bring pleasure to someone else's life.

I particularly enjoy designing my own weaving patterns and working with natural fibres, although I confess to having a soft spot for Tencel (Lenzing).

The possibilities of colour, texture, structure and drape continue to inspire me, and there is always something new to discover at the loom.

Thank you for visiting FibreLicous and taking the time to share in my love of weaving. I hope you find something here that speaks to you, sparks your imagination or simply brings a little joy to your day.
