WHY I PREFER TO WORK WITH MAINLY NATURAL MATERIALS: ie wool

We all know that wool is wonderful - it is comfortable, regulates temperature, manages moisture, protects against UV and it is BIODEGRADABLE!
A new report by the International Union for Conservation of Nature shows 35% of minute plastic particles in the ocean are caused by washing synthetic clothing. Thousands of plastic particles are released into the environment and will never break down.
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has predicted that in thirty years' time there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.
This is not a legacy that we want to leave for our children.

We have to start to re-think and protect our environment! Knowing this it is an important reason for me to think more about how to recycle materials and create new useful beautiful products out of them. That's why I have started to offer recycled car tube soles for my slippers as well as leather.
More ideas will hopefully follow soon.

ALPACA is a soft, durable, luxurious and silky natural fibre.
While similar to sheep’s wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and has no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic.
Alpaca is naturally water-repellent.

MERINO WOOL is soft and comfortable on your skin. It is extremely breathable, regulates body temperature and heart rate, so that it actually improves sleep.
Merino wool is a natural, renewable commodity and therefore bio-degradable.
It inhibits smells. Keratin, the protein the fibre is made of, breaks down bacteria which cause smells.
Merino wool offers natural UV protection.

BAMBOO is a grass that is harvested and distilled into cellulose that is then spun into yarn. Bamboo is a beautiful natural fibre that is often considered natural antibacterial.
Bamboo is a renewable resource – it can be harvested without killing the plant and can be harvested after a few months again. It is biodegradable!
It is naturally antibacterial and also has UV protective properties!
Bamboo is quite breathable and can be softer than silk when spun into yarn.
