About Blossoming Soaps

I’ve always loved the immediate benefits essential oils has on the mind, so I decided to combine my passion of soap making and my knowledge of pure essential oils into one. The age old technique using the ‘cold process method’ creates a unique and luxurious artisan soap from scratch, giving you the assurance of what goes into your soap. The best quality ingredients used in all recipes cleverly joins science and art together. Artful designs have been created to make each Blossoming Soap unique. The paper used for wrapping our aromatherapy soaps was hand drawn onto 100% post-consumer recycled paper for you to enjoy. Natural, sustainable and organic essential oils, botanicals, clays and plant based oils are used to give your skin only the best, eliminating unnecessary chemicals. Each soap has high conditioning properties to keep your skin feeling moistened and not dry.

WHAT IS IN OUR SOAPS?
We use a variety of plant-based oils, botanicals, pure essential oils, clays and milks in our base recipes. Our Oils include Coconut, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Cocoa & Shea butters, Castor, Rice Bran, Certified Sustainable Palm oil and Palm Kernel Oil. Our botanicals include Cornflower, Chamomile and Calendula flowers, Himalayan Salt, Organic coconut, coffee beans, rolled oats, and colloidal oatmeal. We use Australian Pink Clay, Brazilian Green and Purple Clays, Activated Charcoal, Anatto, Australian Kaolin Clay and Titanium Dioxide. A range of quality pure essential oils and specific aromatherapy blends to optimise your mental health targeted to help reduce anxiety, depression and other stress related conditions. Essential oils include but are not limited to Lavender, Rose Geranium, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, Orange, Lemon, White Grapefruit, Eucalyptus, Teatree, Chamomile, Patchouli.

DO YOU USE ANY CHEMICALS?
We use Caustic Soda (lye) to produce all soaps. This is the only chemical used in our soap. It is scientifically impossible to make any bar of soap without it. Saponification is the process that happens when our oils are mixed with the lye solution. After this process, the soap mixture begins to harden and set. Once hard, the caustic soda and oils have turned into natural glycerin, which is very moisturising on the skin.

DO YOU USE ARTIFICIAL FRAGRANCES OR COLOURS?
No we don’t. Fragrance oils are not from nature. They are processed in a factory using chemicals. We use clays to colour most of our soaps. These clays are from nature and tested to cosmetic standards ensuring no nasties remain. They also have many skin benefits, compared to micas and coloured oxides that are synthetic.

DO YOU USE ANY ANIMAL INGREDIENTS IN YOUR SOAPS?
Yes we do. The majority of our soaps are Vegan, however we do use Manuka honey and Goat Milk in two of our soaps.

DO YOU HAVE PALM OIL IN YOUR SOAPS?
Some of our soaps contain palm oil and palm kernel oils. We only purchase Certified Sustainable Palm Oil and Palm Kernel Oil from a certified supplier.

I HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN & REACT TO MOST BOUGHT SOAPS. DO YOU HAVE A SOAP FOR ME?
Yes we do. Store bought soaps use lots of synthetic ingredients and detergents which is the main cause of skin irritations or reactions. Our ‘Sensitive Goat’, ‘Baby Olive’ ‘Shea Butter’ and ‘Manuka Honey & Oat’ are extremely gentle on sensitive skin, mature skin and is also great for babies. Pure essential oils can aggravate sensitive skin, but we have a range of specifically designed soaps without essential oils for this reason. Coconut oil is also known to dry out skin, so we only use a very low percentage of coconut oil in all of our soaps. Everyone’s skin is different, and sometimes skin can be unpredictable too. Try our sensitive skin range of soap and do a patch test first. Once you find a soap that suits your skin – stick to it!

HOW CAN I MAKE MY SOAP LAST LONGER?
Customers say our soaps generally last longer than store bought soaps. We cure our soaps for a minimum of 4-6 weeks depending on the soap type. As these are cold process soaps, make sure that you leave your soap to drain between uses. If they are sitting in a puddle of water, your soap will ‘melt’ and become very soft and slushy.

HOW BIG IS YOUR SOAP?
Generally our soaps weigh about 115-130grams, which gives you a medium sized soap. Depending on the soap, we beville soaps to make them easier to hold in your hand. Our ‘Baby Olive’ soaps are half the normal size, to make it just the right size for babies and toddlers.
