About Reuben and Louise

Thanks so much for checking out my online store!
My name is Debbie, I'm the maker behind Reuben and Louise.
Reuben is my husbands middle name, this always makes us chuckle as he doesn't look like a Reuben. I share the middle name Louise with both my daughters.
Reuben and Louise was established in 2018. At this time I owned my own bricks and mortar store, 42 on Brooke. I I I stocked some amazing products by Australian designers, with a strong focus on ethical and sustainably made products.
I had my trusty sewing machine set up in the store and would make/sell my own items ranging from scrunchies, bags, clothing, and patchwork quilts.
I decided to close my store this year and focus more on Reuben and Louise from the comfort of my own home.
I could tell you that I have my own studio but really I have a makeshift sewing table in the dining area which I share with Alfie the budgie and two mischievous cats.
My scrunchies are made using linen and Liberty Tana Lawn fabrics.
Liberty fabrics was established in London in 1875 by Arthur Lasenby Liberty. His love for the exotic drove him to develop Liberty fabrics, inspired by the beautiful textiles he found in Japan.
Liberty fabrics are made in Italy without the use of crease-resisting chemicals or irritating alliegens.
" I was determined not to follow existing fashions, but create new ones"
