About goschen girls

goschen girls is a family enterprise started by two sisters who grew up on a farm in the Victorian Mallee, in a family whose philosophy was make or make do, among people who collected and hoarded and treasured that which is made with love. Our mother, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, daughters and nieces shared and share our love of fabric, of sewing, of things old and new. For us there is delight in the coming together of lovely fabric, interesting textures, designs that are traditional or quirky, eye-catching initially or gradually revealing of beauty.

We have new quilts, cushions, bags, scarves and other items made with natural fabrics – cotton, linen, silk – in colours that sing, and designs that elevate the components into something lovelier than the original elements.

The items offered through our shop reflect our current interests; don’t expect us to be making the same things on your next visit. Most of our items are made by either Janet or Heather but the wider family will sometimes join us with their own hand-crafted treasures. The individual listing will identify the maker. All items are made by us in our smoke and pet free homes.

Many of our items contain vintage or recycled materials, and we often cannot be specific about all the components or fabric type. We will always include as much information as we have, but generally recommend gentle hand-washing where necessary.
