About Quilts by Robyn

Welcome to my Quilts by Robyn Madeit store.
I am inspired by our unique natural environment and beautiful fabrics to create decorative yet resilient quilted items to be enjoyed and used in the home.

I grew up in south east country Victoria, participating in many and varied handcrafts and sewing with my Mum and Nanna. However I had never patchworked or quilted until my husband Gary and I moved our young family to the tiny remote mining town of Leinster in the northern Goldfields of WA in 1996. There was a group of resident quilters and one member taught a class for a small sampler quilt. I was hooked from week one and have not stopped since.

By 2002 we were living in Karratha and a friend and I began teaching a quilting class for beginners. At this time I was making many quilts for family and friends and started offering quilts for sale and accepting commissions.

After purchasing a small domestic embroidery machine in 2008, I designed my first table runner, incorporating embroidered Sturt’s Desert Pea motifs with authentic aboriginal designed fabrics. With great support from our local Visitor Centre I began selling through them, my items proving very popular with visitors heading north to enjoy our sunny Pilbara winters. In 2016 I purchased a multi needle embroidery machine, and now offer an ever expanding range of items, featuring Australian native flora and fauna.

As we quilters say “So much fabric, so little time…..”
