Red Poppy Tote

Poppies for Anzac Day. Poppies are the theme throughout this bag, with 2 different views of poppies on the outside and two more for the lining.
The front of the Red Poppy bag is black fabric, which was painted using metallic (shiny) paints. The flowers and frame were then quilted using free-motion embroidery to enhance the painted image. The back is commercial printed fabric with a border of poppies, and is lightly quilted. There is a pocket on the inside, made in contrasting fabric so it is easy to find.
The lining is of two different fabrics, one showing white poppies and the other a wild impression of poppies in a number of colours. The bag is made from cotton fabric and cotton wadding. The paint is heat-set and so washable, but very gentle washing in cold water is recommended.
The bag is 39 cm x 40 cm, and the internal pocket is about 18 x19 cm. The handles are about 50 cm long each and 4 cm wide, reinforced with wadding and an embroidery stitch..
