Pure Organic Turmeric Powder

Hi, I’m Vicki and my small business is named MardiBits. I live on a rural property in Federal Queensland and grow organic Turmeric. We live off-grid, so no electricity bills, yea! My crops are irrigated from a spring dam, and fertilised with composted materials, mainly cow poo! I grow my spice so you are buying local - I don’t know anyone else who can boast that. I stress, this is Australian grown Turmeric and NOT imported.

I sow the rhizomes (part of the plant which grows horizontally underground) in September and harvest 8 to 10 months after planting. Just one crop per year. I set aside a portion of the harvested rhizomes for the next crop so retain the spice’s organic integrity.

To process, I clean then slowly dehydrate (process to remove moisture) the harvested rhizomes and grind them to a powder. For every kilogram (1,000 grams) of harvested raw Turmeric, I yield just 150 grams of powder. Whilst the dehydration process reduces my yield by 85%, it preserves shelf life and intensifies taste - 2.5 grams or 1 teaspoon of my powder is the equivalent of about 20 grams of raw spice, so it’s intense!

I vacuum pack my Turmeric powder in lots of 50 grams, and I have quantities set aside ready to post. Postage is FREE Australia wide.
