Australian Native Animals Original Cyanotypes - Set of Four *** these are UNFRAMED artworks ***

Each print measures 4x6 inches.

These four cyanotypes are of .a kookaburra, curlew, wallaby and sulphur crested cockatoo.

Original handmade photographic cyanotype artworks made on acid free archival heavy weight 300gsm watercolour paper.

The process involved a digital negative being created from the original photographs and printed onto a transparency film sheet. Solutions were mixed to create a photosensitive emulsion which was then brushed onto the watercolour paper. Once the paper was sufficiently dry, the negative was placed over the paper and placed into a contact printing frame. Following this was exposure to a UV light source and the development, rinsing and drying of the paper, resulting in a cyan-blue print of the original photographic image.

*** Please note that your prints may slightly differ from the ones pictured here. Each is hand printed/developed using the same negative but each print made will have slightly different brush strokes when I've brushed/coated the paper and the shade of blue may differ a little depending on the time of day/year I expose them as I use the sun for the exposures. The UV index changes when exposing, so no two prints will ever be exactly the same. These are hand-crafted photographs.

The artworks will be signed and dated on the reverse.

A brief history on the cyanotype process…
Cyanotype is a photographic printing process which was discovered and developed by Sir John Herschel in 1842. It was botanist Anna Atkins who in 1843 utilised the process to document her botanical findings and published a book of her cyanotypes that same year. That book is considered to be the first book illustrated with photographic images.

Your artwork will be securely posted to you inside a weather-proof resealable cello bag and enclosed with protective cardboard backing for safe delivery.
