The Return of the Native is Thomas Hardy's 6th novel and was published in 1878. He had some difficulty finding a publisher as it was considered quite controversial as it tells the story of Eustacia Vye and her determination to marry Clym Yeobright. It is a tragic tale of romantic illusions and reckless affairs. This sad tale became one of Hardy's most highly regarded and popular novels.

This stunning copy of this book was found on the shelves of a local charity shop and has now been re-imagined into this one-of-a-kind handbag. It has an elegant golden cover design and is lined with a gentle 100% cotton fabric. Its handles are made from an upcycled belt and closes with a button that beautifully matches the cover, and an elasticised loop.

Measuring 23.7 x 15.2 x 3.3 cm (9.33 x 5.98 x 1.29 in), with a reinforced spine and old gold book corners protecting the edges, this bag is ready for any occasion. It is the perfect accessory for any occasion and is sure to draw compliments wherever you go. It is a lovely gift for the literature lover in your life or as a treat for yourself.

“A blaze of love and extinction, was better than a lantern glimmer of the same which should last long years.”
