This story of an imperial orphan living a hand-to-mouth existence in the time of the British Raj, was first published in 1901 and unfolds against the backdrop of The Great Game, the political conflict between Russia and Britain in Central Asia. It presents a vivid picture of India, her people, culture and religions and is a great thriller telling the story of Kim.

An abandoned copy of this classic book was found on the shelves of the local charity shop and has been upcycled into this fabulous Novel Bag. The emerald lining fabric has gold detailing that captures and enhances the golden design on the cover. The gold book corners, findings and filigree designed button all come together to create this quite exotic handbag.

With a reinforced spine and measuring 23.5 x 15.5 x 3 cm (9.25 x 6.1 x 1.18 in) it is big enough to carry your small personal items. The handles are made from an upcycled belt and the bag closes with a simple loop and button.

Whilst Kim is considered one of the 100 best English-language novels, this Novel Bag is a one-of-a-kind, handmade item that is sure to be noticed whenever you take it out. It is the perfect gift for any lover of literature.

Upcycled Book Club is situated in Brunswick, Victoria. If you are in the area, convo me about a local pick up and avoid paying shipping costs.

“His nickname through all the wards was ' Little Friend of all the World'; and very often, being lithe and inconspicuous, he executed commissions by night on the crowded housetops for sleek and shiny young men of fashion. It was intrigue, of course.”
