Sweet tooth, baker, life celebrator, & packaging queen, Kelly: ‘The concept behind our Cookie Mixes was to create a unique gift that not only looks great, but tastes great and is a whole lot of fun to make.’

Hello fellow Madeit lovers. I am Kelly; seasoned traveler, mother of two, minimal sleeper, lover of what I do. I’m also the creative force behind Sweet Health, handcrafting adorable easy-to-bake Cookie Mixes in a bottle.

Our handcrafted products are a layered dry baking mix packaged in vintage styled milk bottles, making them an adorably presented gift; a fun activity to enjoy with the kids; or simply an easy-to-bake sweet treat to spoil or be spoilt with.

The concept behind our Cookie Mixes was to create a unique gift that not only looks great but tastes great and is a whole lot of fun to make.

I am an always-on-the-go one woman show - from concept through to creation - I create, design, test, produce, and package everything myself. Friends always comment that I have an issue delegating but I just love doing what I do so much that I want to do it all myself! It's such a sense of achievement knowing that single handedly I create what I do. And quite possibly that perfectionist in me has something to do with not wanting to give anything up…..lol.

I have so much fun with my little handmade business. I am extremely passionate about what I create and love that I can bring smiles and moments of joy into people's lives.

I am very fortunate to have two creative spaces from which to operate Sweet Health. Our own purpose-built commercial kitchen, (that I share with hubby and his on-the-side food biz) where all the recipe testing, production and more taste testing occurs….and my own design studio where all the presentation and packaging magic occurs. It does mean that our children have to share a room…but hey something has to give, right!?

At the beginning of the year I installed a new dressing station into my little studio to allow me to keep up with the increasing demand and I am in heaven when stationed at it, adding the finishing touches to all my products. Everything I love is in that studio; photos of my family, travel books, more photos, more books, craft supplies and my work!

Life's events, milestones and celebrations are my greatest inspiration. Life should be celebrated. Moments of togetherness should be celebrated and cherished, hence I love creating custom designed Cookie Mixes that celebrate each individual event they are designed for in a unique fashion.

My children are my driving force, they are the reason why I work for myself - so I can be there to share in life with them as it happens.

Sweet Health is in fact my second creative business that I own and operate (yes I have 2 businesses that I currently run...I did say I never sleep much…LOL)

I've always had a passion for creating and gifting sentimental handmade items and always had a very strong desire to run my own business one day. So, back in 2010 a couple of months prior to the birth of our first child and whilst hubby and I were travelling around Australia I started my first business - designing and printing labels.

I produced my first order from my dusty old laptop in the back of our campervan and had it printed at the local library (we were on the west coast at the time in the middle of nowhere and I had my first client and first deadline to meet!)

I look back and laugh at my sheer determination to achieve the impossible and am ever so grateful that I stuck it out. What does that have to do with cookie mixes you might ask?? Everything!

Back then, Sweet Health was owned by its original founder, Debbie, who went on to become my very first small business product labelling client and then a dear friend. Debbie would create her Cookie Mixes and I would create custom labels for her. I loved what we created together, even stepping away from the printer and into the kitchen at times to help out.

At the beginning of 2017 when Debbie wanted to move onto other ventures, I couldn't let our little Cookie Mixes go so I bought her out, tweaked the recipes, created new designs and products and here we are today, shoulder deep in flour and sugar; delighting children at birthday parties as the take home favours; adorning the shelves of our many stockists; acting as unique promotional and corporate branded gifts; helping families enjoy important together time in the kitchen in such fast pace lifestyles; and simply bringing smiles to people's faces - loving every minute of what I do.

I have truly put my own stamp on Sweet Health and whilst the original concept wasn't mine everything I do today has my originality and creativity all over it!

Madeit has been an integral part of Sweet Health's success over the years providing us with a platform to sell our handmade creations to a community of appreciative handmade lovers.

My business is my creative outlet. It allows me to focus my energies and make people happy. I'm a sentimentalist at heart and LOVE anything handmade be it from skilled hands or young amateur ones.

There is a unique authenticity to something that has been handmade, slight imperfections that mass produced items do not possess, that build character and originality. When I'm gifted a handmade item, I know that great love, care and thought has gone into it and that's what I hope people feel when they receive one of my Cookie Mix Creations.
