My name is Victoria Roberts & I am the owner & solo knitter behind Three + One. I have been married to my husband for nearly 10 years and we have 4 young children (3 sons and 1 daughter - who are the inspiration behind the label name). I also work part-time in local government as a Customer Service Officer. We call red-dirt Childers, QLD our home.
What started as a reason to slow down during my fourth pregnancy, became a passion; Three + One was established in 2019. I discovered a wonderful world of yarn and fibres, reading and learning patterns, persevering, and challenging my skill.
I now handknit a variety of woolly pieces such as beanies, infinity scarves, ear-warmers & my newly released cotton cup sleeves.
I grew up in Childers and was always an active and creative person. My Grandma taught me to knit when I was a teenager & the first item I made was a scarf (which I never finished!) It wasn't until I was 30 years old that I picked up the knitting needles again and truly found my niché.
As a busy mother, knitting is my creative outlet; my peace and calm. To turn a ball of string into something beautiful - and functional - gives me a sense of accomplishment. There is love in every piece I make and when other people appreciate my creations, it brings my heart joy.
My beloved yarn bowl goes with me everywhere - I knit during my lunch breaks, on the couch after children are in bed, lazy weekends with a coffee and in the passenger seat while my husband drives.
My designated workspace and storage is our dining table and buffet unit. Having a small Queenslander home means we utilise any space we have, but it works for me and items can be put away neatly and safely.
The designs I create are inspired by my childhood memories in our Australian backyard. I absolutely adore our resilient flora and name some of my pieces after them. I also strive to make my products versatile and to have something for all ages.
When I receive a custom order, I love working with customers to create their own bespoke piece.
I have an appreciation for handmade goods and the makers behind them. I know that a lot of love, care, and time goes into creating.
I support small and Australian made where I can, and I found Madeit to be suitable for my business for this very reason. It has given me the confidence to put myself out there and reach a wider audience, all while having fun doing it.
Victoria is offering all Madeit newsletter subscribers an exclusive discount at Three + One from 28th May to 11th June. Subscribe below to receive this and other exclusive offers:
