Buying on Madeit

How does the buying work on Madeit?

You buy direct from the seller and payment is paid to the seller with credit card, Google Wallet, Apple Pay, PayPal, or direct deposit. We allow our sellers to set which payment methods they offer, so while all sellers offer at least one credit card payment option, this may be through different payment gateways with slightly different checkout experiences and some may also offer Google Wallet or Apple Pay, PayPal, and/or Direct Deposit. Bank deposits are only available to Australian users and are not available for guest checkout.

Will I be sent an email when I make a purchase?

Yes, you will be sent an email to your nominated email address with the details of your purchase. To ensure you receive emails about your purchase, please add our domain (madeit.com.au) to your safe senders list in your email account.

If you have a Madeit account you can also access your purchase details in your My Madeit> Purchases

How does the Madeit cart work?

Because buyers pay sellers directly, the Madeit cart allows you to checkout from one seller at a time. Firstly, add your item or items to your cart, they will be grouped into orders from each seller and each order will have its own checkout option.

You can easily remove items from your cart and change the quantities, add the item to your favourites, change postage types and change the postage address.

Once you have finished shopping with the seller and added your postage address, click 'Checkout', enter a message to the seller (optional) and select your preferred payment method. Below are more details on each payment type.

Credit card, Google Wallet and Apple Pay payments

If paying by credit card, payment is made at the point of sale. Choose the credit card payment method and click 'Pay Now'. If the seller offers Google Wallet or Apple Pay and you are using a compatible browser, these options will appear as a button at the top of the checkout on the next page. Enter your payment details and click the button to pay. You will be returned to Madeit once your payment is complete.

PayPal Checkout

Some sellers may only offer PayPal (with credit cards) as their only instant payment option. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can still pay by credit card by selecting the "PayPal or Credit Card' payment method and clicking 'Pay Now', then on the PayPal checkout page, scroll down and click 'Pay with Card' to enter your credit card details. Alternatively, log in with your PayPal account to process payment without entering card details. You will be returned to Madeit once your payment is complete.

• Once you have finished shopping with the seller, select your postal address from the drop-down box, or click +ADD NEW to enter a new postal address. Click on the shopping cart icon to return to your cart once you've added a new address
• Click the CHECKOUT button
• If you have any special instructions for the seller, enter a message in the field provided (then click NEXT on Mobile)
• Select PayPal or Credit Card as your payment method and click the PAY NOW button
• You will then be directed to the PayPal website to login or enter credit card details (you may need to scroll down to see the credit card entry fields
• PayPal will ask to continue with your payment
• You will be directed back to the Madeit website to the confirmation page
• Click the CONFIRM button and a confirmation screen will appear to say your purchase has been successful
• You will be sent emails from both PayPal and Madeit confirming your purchase

Can I pay with my credit card using PayPal?

Some sellers offer credit card payments through PayPal. If this service is available, the PayPal payment option at checkout will also display Visa and Mastercard symbols. Sellers who do not offer credit card payments through PayPal all offer credit card payments via an alternative secure payment gateway.

Can you explain the direct deposit checkout process?

Direct deposit is only available for Australian buyers who have a Madeit account.

Once you have finished shopping with the seller, select your postal address from the drop-down box, or click +ADD NEW to enter a new postal address. Click on the shopping cart icon to return to your cart once you've added a new address. Then;
• Click the CHECKOUT button
• If you have any special instructions for the seller, enter a message in the field provided (then click NEXT on Mobile)
• Select Bank Deposit as your payment method and click the PAY NOW button
• You will be asked to CONFIRM your order.

At this point you have bought the item(s) and a confirmation screen will appear to say your purchase has been successful.

If the seller has stored their BSB & Account details they will appear on the confirmation screen, a message may also appear giving you more instructions, for example "the seller will be touch asap with their bank details". Once you have transferred payment and it has cleared in the seller's bank account they will make and ship your order.

Guest Checkout

Do I need an account on Madeit to buy?

No, you do not need to register for an account to buy on Madeit. However, if you do have an account you can choose to stay signed in by clicking the Stay Signed In option on the sign-in screen. If you already have items in your shopping cart, these will be moved to your account shopping cart if you create or sign in to an account in the same browsing session.

How does the guest checkout work?

Firstly add the items to your cart, once you have finished shopping with that seller add your address via the add/edit postage details in the cart then simply checkout via Credit Card or PayPal, (See detailed instructions above). When you have entered your details in the PayPal or Stripe checkout page you will be returned to the Madeit website once your payment is complete. You will be sent an email confirming your purchase from Madeit.

Can I give feedback if I checkout as a guest?

Yes, guests can leave feedback using the unique link provided in your order confirmation email.

What are the benefits of having a Madeit account?

Creating an account on madeit.com.au means you can checkout faster, contact stores, save multiple postage addresses, access order information, pay by bank deposit (if in Australia) and add products / stores to your favourites.
