Felt Brooch – House Series no.13

This brooch is part of my Felt Brooch House Series, a collection of naive felt houses, pieced together with layers of pure wool felt.  Each piece is carefully and slowly stitched on my sewing machine, forming individual pieces that represent love for home and family life.

All layers are hand cut, layered and sewn and no two can ever be exactly the same.

Stitching is used not only to assemble the brooch but to add texture and dimension.

Brooch no.13 is made of layers of off cream, flecked grey, dark red, flecked charcoal & black pure wool felt.

White thread is used in construction.

Measuring approx 6.8cm tall and 4cm wide, it has a lockable pin hand sewn onto the back.

You can see this house together with some of the houses so far in the series in the last photographs Brooch no.13 is centre front of this photograph.

For a quick visual size reference, the card the brooch is presented on in photograph no.4 is standard business card size.
